Rhinoplasty

Nose reshaping surgery to improve both aesthetics and function for enhanced facial harmony

Overview

Rhinoplasty, commonly known as nose reshaping surgery, is a sophisticated procedure designed to improve both the aesthetic appearance and functional aspects of the nose. This transformative surgery can address a wide range of concerns including nasal humps, wide or bulbous tips, asymmetry, breathing difficulties, and previous injury corrections.

The nose is the central feature of the face, and even subtle changes can dramatically enhance overall facial harmony and balance. Rhinoplasty not only improves appearance but can also correct structural issues that impair breathing, providing both cosmetic and functional benefits in a single procedure.

Our approach combines artistic vision with surgical precision to create results that look completely natural and harmonize with your unique facial features. Using advanced techniques, we carefully reshape bone and cartilage while preserving or enhancing nasal function. Each procedure is customized to achieve your aesthetic goals while maintaining natural proportions.

The Procedure

Rhinoplasty typically takes 2-4 hours and is performed under general anesthesia. The procedure can be performed using either an open or closed approach, depending on the complexity of changes needed. Open rhinoplasty involves a small incision across the columella (tissue between nostrils), while closed rhinoplasty uses incisions inside the nostrils.

Through these carefully placed incisions, the surgeon accesses the nasal structure to reshape bone and cartilage. This may involve removing a dorsal hump, refining the nasal tip, narrowing the nasal bridge, or correcting asymmetries. For functional improvements, the septum may be straightened and turbinates reduced to improve airflow.

Advanced surgical techniques ensure precise reshaping while maintaining structural integrity and natural appearance. Cartilage grafts may be used to provide support or enhance specific areas. The incisions are then closed with fine sutures, and internal splints or packing may be placed temporarily to support the new nasal structure.

Recovery & Results

Recovery from rhinoplasty requires patience as the nose gradually settles into its new shape. Initial swelling and bruising around the eyes peak at 2-3 days and typically subside within 1-2 weeks. A nasal splint is worn for about one week to protect and support the nose during initial healing.

Most patients can return to desk work within 7-10 days and resume light exercise after 2-3 weeks. Strenuous activities and contact sports should be avoided for 6-8 weeks. Swelling gradually decreases over several months, with most visible swelling gone by 3-4 months. Final results are typically apparent at 12-18 months when all swelling has resolved.

Results are permanent and provide lasting enhancement to facial appearance. The reshaped nose maintains its new form indefinitely, though natural aging continues. Both aesthetic improvements and functional benefits, such as improved breathing, are long-lasting. Most patients experience significant enhancement in facial harmony and confidence.
