Blepharoplasty, commonly known as eyelid surgery, is a precise cosmetic procedure designed to rejuvenate the eye area by removing excess skin, fat, and muscle from the upper and/or lower eyelids. This transformative surgery addresses signs of aging around the eyes, creating a more refreshed, youthful, and alert appearance.
The eye area is often one of the first places to show signs of aging, with drooping upper lids, puffy bags under the eyes, and excess skin creating a tired or aged appearance. Blepharoplasty effectively corrects these concerns, not only enhancing aesthetic appearance but also, in some cases, improving vision when excess upper eyelid skin obstructs the visual field.
Our surgical approach uses advanced techniques to ensure natural-looking results with minimal visible scarring. Incisions are carefully placed within the natural creases of the eyelids, making them virtually invisible once healed. The result is a more youthful, refreshed eye area that maintains your natural expression.

Blepharoplasty typically takes 1-3 hours depending on whether upper lids, lower lids, or both are being treated. The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, based on patient preference and the extent of surgery.
For upper eyelid surgery, incisions are made within the natural crease of the eyelid, allowing for removal of excess skin and fat while hiding the scar. Lower eyelid surgery can be performed through an incision just below the lash line or from inside the eyelid (transconjunctival approach) when only fat needs to be removed or repositioned.
Excess skin and fat are carefully removed or repositioned, and underlying muscles may be tightened if needed. The incisions are then closed with fine sutures that are typically removed within one week. Advanced surgical techniques ensure natural-looking results that enhance your eyes while maintaining their unique character.
Recovery from blepharoplasty is generally well-tolerated. Initial swelling and bruising peak within 2-3 days and gradually subside over 1-2 weeks. Cold compresses and keeping the head elevated help minimize swelling. Most patients feel comfortable appearing in public with makeup after 7-10 days.
Most patients can return to desk work within 5-7 days and resume normal activities within 2 weeks. Contact lenses can usually be worn after 2 weeks. Strenuous exercise and activities that could strain the eyes should be avoided for 3-4 weeks. Sutures are typically removed within 5-7 days.
Results are immediately visible but continue to improve as swelling resolves over several weeks. Final results are typically apparent within 2-3 months. The improvements from blepharoplasty are long-lasting, with many patients enjoying results for 10-15 years or more. The refreshed, youthful eye area significantly enhances overall facial appearance.
